Twilight
The only bitcoin reserve that guarantees your funds back.
Twilight is envisioned as an antidote to rising walled gardens of centralised custody. Bitcoin started as an effort to take power out of the hands of a select few financial institutions. Twilight's stack creates guardrails for asset protection while maintaining the key value of distributed trust that bitcoin was founded upon.
The few key properties that Twilight achieves are:
Your Bitcoin is always on the move, aka inflight, so no one party can claim custody of your funds. It's analogous to network validators playing pass the
ballbitcoin.Derived security directly from Bitcoin, by inscribing an always available exit hatch which can be broadcasted permissionlessly by anyone watching the network, i.e. either the client or the validator. This ensures you never have to trust Twilight for the security of your funds in case of liveness failure.
Secures $1B with $10M in stake, i.e. it can secure 100% of the funds with 1% of the stake. Even though the system does not need any collateral if it operates over 1-of-n trust assumption, we choose to assume n-of-n will go malicious.
Distributed signing server, by enabling all signatories share their signatures on the ditributed ledger itself instead of a centralized signature aggregation server.
2 block deposit confirmation. Instead of waiting for 100 block confirmation time like other distributed protocols, Twilight uses validity gadget to achieve predictive finality on longest chain.
